| Dear Friends, For many years we have talked about how to change the laws. We have taken the steps to reach the masses with a message that is factually correct. We learned how to create and then share a vision with people in which they can actively participate. Most of us know the value of actively participating in registering new voters, even though some of us have been denied that privilege ourselves. Many of us have worked diligently to beat back ignorance and suffered torments for our speech. Yet we thrived. As part of our newest FL CAN campaign we have posed the question "If not You, Who; If Not Now, WHEN?" to the current elected officials. We ask you to contact your personal representatives and tell them to support our efforts. We are honoring our commitment to keeping you informed about their responses and the data base of their responses will be available on the FL CAN web site shortly. We ask that you follow this information and actively participate in firing officials that don't represent you and electing people who do represent your views. In 2002, every seat in the Florida House of Representatives will change. This year only 445 signatures are required to put your name on the ballot as a candidate for Florida House. Because we believe that we CAN make a difference, I have completed the paperwork to be considered the Democratic Candidate for House of Representatives from District 31 in Florida. This district reaches parts of Melbourne and Palm Bay. We will begin collecting the signatures needed to add my name to the ballot in about 10 days. We have developed a grassroots strategy for running the campaign and have done the research necessary to turn what will definitely be a "high" profile campaign into a successful race for House. So what CAN you do? If you have ever thought of running, now is the time. We are pleased to share our strategy with you and help explain the process. If you don't want to run yourself, create a Truth Police Squad in your area or find a candidate that supports our goal of comprehensive drug policy reforms and WORK for them. Register more people to vote, become poll watchers or drive a shuttle on election day. Create signs, design brochures or walk the district with literature. There is no limit to what you CAN do. We have the network, the strength, the facts and the people on our side. When we show the candidates our collective power in Florida we will turn back the current tide in our Government. It starts with finding our voice, combining our strengths and being true to our convictions. I hope you will share our passion to create a lasting change in Florida. WE CAN send a clear message to the whole country with our "If not You, Who; If Not Now, WHEN?" campaign ~ the people want drug sanity not drug hysteria.
