Responses from Candidates
In 1999, FL CAN officers created an elaborate Truth Police by organizing
a demonstration at the Florida Association of Counties meeting in
Orlando. Organizers invited media and asked FL Drug Czar James McDonough
if he advocated arresting AIDS patients and Glaucoma sufferers.
While he declined to answer that question he was quoted by the Associated
Press as saying “Medical Marijuana is akin to Folklore, home
remedy and witchcraft”
We are now seeking answers to 5 questions from all
state and federal candidates in Florida, to force politicians to
recognize cannabis law reform as an issue.
| 1. Do you oppose legal medical access to cannabis by patients
as qualified by licensed healthcare providers?
2. Do you oppose incarceration for non-violent first and
second time drug offenders?
3. Do you oppose implementing harm reduction concepts such
as needle exchange which has been proven in the Netherlands
and Switzerland to reduce the spread of HIV?
4. Do you oppose spending our tax dollars on escalating the
failed policies of the war on drugs?
5. Do you support restoration of voting privileges of convicted
felons who have completed their sentence?
